1. Introduction
Archaeological bones or artefacts made of bone are sensitive to collagen degradation [1-3]. For instance the “crosier of the tomb of Hardouin de Bueil” kept in the cathedral St. Maurice of Angers dating from 14th c. is in an alarming state of conservation (fig. 1).
